Blu3 DAO sends 11 teams to the ETHBogota blockchain hackathon and organizes Devcon Women Leaders Hub
The Blu3 Hacks program sponsors talented women, nonbinary people, and allies as builders to launch projects in web3 at events and conferences around the world.
Blu3 DAO sponsored 42 talented women and nonbinary builders through our Blu3 Hacks program during ETHBogota and Devcon from October 5th to Oct 15th. Blu3 Hacks Bogota was a collaboration between Blu3 DAO, CryptoMujeresDAO, and FemmeFinanceNYC. The program resulted in 1 hackathon team as hackathon finalists, 11 bounty winning hack teams, and over $20,000 in prizes.
ETHBogota: Hackers Arrive in Bogota
On October 5th, the first day our hackers arrived, people had free time to explore the city and get settled. Later that evening we all joined together to get to know each other in a more intimate setting and we had our Blu3 “TGI” (thank god it’s…) dinner!
Day 1 of Blu3 Hacker Bootcamp at #Blu3House, we start with a busy day full of technical and non-technical workshops for Blu3 hackers.
On October 6th, hackers hit the ground running: we had and ideation and strategy session where hackers start to hone in on what they are passionate about.
The ideation and strategy process is the opportunity to generate solutions by combining your understanding of the problem and the customer. Hackers team up and started brainstorming.
Some takeaways from the hackers:
Don’t shy away from exploring the unknown.
Jump in and get excited about learning something new.
Ask questions , raise your hand and explore.
Help others and share your expertise.
We had tech workshops hosted by 2 of our sponsors, Polygon & WalletConnect.
La Chiva cultural excursion
As we travel the world we always like to give Blu3 hackers cultural experiences to get the know the culture and country visited. We had a great time riding “La Chiva.” Chiva buses have been contributing to the development of the country for many years and taking the inhabitants of all corners of Colombia to their destination, although in recent years it has also become synonymous with recreation and tourism.
Day 2 of Blu3 Hacker Bootcamp
On October 7th, we were at Teatro Ripio, a tech-driven hub to discuss crypto, web3 education, digital art, decentralization, innovation and more.
Shout out to Ripio that lended us a space at the theater to have workshops and talks featuring Algorand, Lens Protocol, Unstoppable Domains, and Ripio.
ETHBogota turned out to be the largest hackathon in Latin America with over 900 hackers.
Hands on coaching and mentoring for hack teams
Later that evening, the first day of the hackathon commenced. Our Blu3 Hacks core team consists of senior developers and multiple hackathon winners, which supported our Blu3 hackers with mentoring and one-on-one coaching. The teams pitched their ideas and implemented suggestions provided by the experts.
Pitch practice for hack teams
A few of the areas teams are coached on:
-Encouraging and supporting the participants in coming up with ideas and trying new things
-Connecting the hackers to resources (tutorials, blogs, documentation) which they can follow up with in their own time
-Addressing specific doubts and problems with the solution being explored
-Prioritize their learning and wellness over the project’s perfection.
Teams could have an amazing pitch deck out there but if they don’t practice how to tell the story of the project alongside it, the pitch will likely fall flat. This is the reason we consider pitch practice essential for the teams. Hackers were very grateful for having senior developers, business leaders, and marketing professionals as mentors. Hackers felt more confident after the sessions and feedback rom the mentors helped them solidify their ideas.
Key takeaways from hackers:
Getting the delivery of your pitch right comes from knowing the content – that means spending time learning your script and the overarching structure.
Expect to make changes to your script and slides during the practice period; it will reveal any inconsistencies and red flags where things don’t flow.
Don’t just go through it by yourself. Get in front of others to simulate the pitch environment – and the nerves that may come with it.
Hackathon closing ceremony
On October 9th after a tough 36 hours of hacking, submission morning ois full of stress & joy! We had 12 teams submitting projects for ETHBogota. All of the teams participated in the live Judging and presented a demo for judges, partners & sponsors.

Devcon - Women Leaders in Web3 Hub
Blu3 DAO was one of the 6 organizations selected to host a community hub at Devcon from October 11 to 14.
Community Hubs are dedicated spaces, which selected community groups and initiatives were able to shape on their own. By enabling a handful of communities to create, discuss and display content of their choice Devcon paved the way for a more decentralized and community-driven event.
You can imagine community hubs like stalls, or booths at a fair, but probably a bit bigger and, very importantly, without the product marketing!
Blu3 DAO partnered with 9 organizations: CryptoMujeresDAO, Metagals, Surge, HER Latam, Crypto Mujeres, TechnoLatinas, Talent Protocol, Polygon & Apeworx.
The hub provided a combination of educational talks, interactive art, and intimate bonding sessions.
Ask Me Anything (AMA) & office hour sessions will industry experts
DEI training (unconscious bias, microaggressions, intersectionality)
Meet & greet (speed-friending) sessions to make new like-minded friends
Wellness activities (guided meditations, standing yoga, breathing exercises)
Sharing Circles to invite the community to discuss their challenges and provide solutions
Women Leader panels & fireside chats
Casual networking sessions
Hands on workshops (writing your first smart contract, multi-chain/cross-chain deployments)
